about the RRFP

The Richmond Reproductive Freedom Project (RRFP) is a Richmond-based grassroots abortion fund and reproductive rights advocacy organization, serving the state of Virginia. We are dedicated to improving access to abortion and other reproductive health services by providing financial assistance, when funds are available, to those who would otherwise be prevented from receiving their abortion due to cost; we provide practical support to people in need; we also educate individuals and the community at-large about reproductive rights and sexual health. Furthermore, the RRFP supports the work that is being done to create safe environments for persons of all genders, sexes, and sexual orientations to receive reproductive health services and education suited to their needs.

The RRFP affirms to:

  • provide monetary assistance to persons exhibiting financial need for abortion procedures
  • provide transportation and arrange other practical assistance for persons on the day of their abortion appointments
  • educate the communtiy about reproductive justice to improve awareness and reduce the social stigma surrounding abortion
  • create safe spaces for people who have had abortions to speak openly and honestly about their experiences

The RRFP supports making the full range of reproductive health services accessible to everyone, regardless of age, race, ability, financial situation, gender, sex, and sexual orientation. This means both the right to not have children and the right to have them; it also demands that we respect and support those who make either choice. We support the deconstructing of racial and socioeconomic barriers within the reproductive rights movement. We also support education about and access to emergency contraception and birth control options. We support the idea that reproductive health services should be available on demand and without apology, and that they should be provided with respect and without judgement.
