“Choice” Your Own Adventure (CYOA) Interactive Game

Welcome to CYOA! A game where the objective is to seek safe abortion care.

The word “choice” in the title is used as a play on what “choice” means in false binary terms like “pro-choice”. As you play, think about what choices you are able to make based on which resources your character has access to.

This quick game is an exercise in empathy, a way to better understand the obstacles a person seeking abortion may face within the different experiences of their life. As many lived experiences as there are, there are the same amount of narratives about abortion access. In no way does this game exemplify everyone’s narrative.

RRFP created this game in 2014 as a game to be played within a workshop, in person, moving around the room to the different stations, with a 4 minute timer. At the end of the game we would have a conversation about what intersecting oppressions cause which barriers and how. This simplified online version is a quick yet educational way to understand why we do the work we do to help folks navigate abortion barriers.

Start by choosing a character below.

Click through the game choosing the options you think your character would choose. At the end of the game, your character either continues pregnancy or gets an abortion. Read through the checklist, consider the obstacles your character faced, and determine for yourself if you’ve “won” the game. Either way, the process is sure to be an adventure!

First, choose your character:
