How you can help increase abortion access:

This team works directly with clients who call our warm lines, and requires specific training. Intake volunteers support with getting folks set with appointment funding, identifying practical support needs, providing emotional support, and providing referrals to different resources.

For the general line, volunteers will need to be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you are multi-lingual, language access line calls come in throughout the week. Any intake volunteer will need computer, internet, and phone access, but let us know if you’d like to brainstorm about technology.

We are always seeking multilingual volunteers who are interested in Language Justice and expanding abortion access for folks whose preferred language is not English!

Language Access Team volunteers can get involved in a variety of ways depending on their capacity. Examples:

• Supporting our Language Access line by working directly with clients who speak other languages (requires specific training).

• Providing written translation or interpretation as-needed.

• Doing outreach in their language-speaking communities to share resources about abortion and RRFP.

This team works directly with RRFP clients, and requires specific training. Volunteer drivers will also need access to a car to drive people to or home from their appointment. A lot of our volunteer drivers are based in Richmond, but we have people from all over the state!

This team is based in Richmond, works directly with RRFP clients, and requires specific training. These volunteers help us show folks Southern Hospitality locally, and will need access to some kind of transportation (bike, car, bus) to bring care packages or other items to clients. We also have care package creation days and care package donation drives.

Fundraising volunteers table for us at markets or events, support and organize fundraisers for or on behalf of RRFP, or represent RRFP at other things happening in the community. We encourage volunteers on this team to host fundraisers of their own or reach out to us with ideas. 

Our annual fundraising season Fund-A-Thon (FAT), March - May 31st, is the most active part of the year for our Fundraising Team, but we do events year round.

We can always use support with research and grant writing, as well as cold outreach to funders and connections to foundations!

These volunteers help us look into grant opportunities, craft compelling grant proposals, and identify potential donors and funders to ensure we have the financial resources we need to continue funding abortions.

This team is for volunteer doulas who would like to provide non-medical, peer, emotional support for folks receiving abortion care. This team works directly with RRFP clients, and requires specific training.

If you are supporting Induction of Labor, you need to be an active doula trained in birth or full-spectrum pregnancy support. While we are not offering an Abortion Doula training right now, our Creating RJ Leaders training is a shortened version of our old Abortion Doula training and can be a great grounding in abortion for people who already have birth or death doula experience.

This team is for people who like to DIY, research, write, design, format, and print & fold zines! These volunteers work collaboratively on creating accessible physical and digital resources.

Our zines are a tabling staple and are usually given away for free. We’ll sometimes “sell” them in exchange for donations, and we love to make a new zine in time for Richmond Zine Fest every October. Have an idea for a new zine? Let us know!
